Animals

You will see quite the assortment of animals at Bellawood Farm.  Our llamas, Bailey and Dax, Patty and Becka, started out as pets but have become invaluable livestock guardians.  Llamas are naturally territorial and keep predators away from our herd of goats.  Contrary to popular belief llamas do spit at eachother, but rarely at humans if raised properly from birth.

We have an assortment of goats including Nigerian Dwarf, Pygmy, Saanen, Alpine, and LaMancha.  The miniature goats we adopted and are enjoying the good life, and the larger dairy goats are our milk goats.  Our newest venture is making our largest goat Ellie into a pack goat to take on hikes.  She’s pretty proud of herself with her pack on.

Our miniature donkeys Bella and Norm are purely for our enjoyment.  Neighbors and friends are known to visit for “donkey therapy.”  There’s nothing like snuggling up to those soft noses.

Our flock of free-range hens produce delicious eggs and are guarded by our quirky and moody rooster “The Toe,” named after his crooked foot.

We welcomed our newest addition (four-legged) a Jersey heifer calf named Daisy.  She was born in July and we purchased her to be a future family milk cow and 4-H project.  For now she just serves the purpose of being incredibly cute.

"We have made the difficult decision to downsize our numbers of animals due to expansion of our human family! We still have some goats, llamas, a cow, and chickens that love visitors!"
